The company is a global luxury haircare brand with distribution in salon professional and prestige retailers. We are recruiting for a Art Director to work out of company’s Culver City, LA office.
The Art Director will be critical to the company’s strategic growth agenda, helping us move the needle towards compelling, brand-building design across all projects and platforms. As part of a small in-house Creative Team, this role will work closely with Marketing, Sales and Education teams in the development of global programs for new product launches and ongoing support across multiple channels. Creative projects include brand/design standards, packaging, advertising, print collateral and promotions, photo art direction, presentation, merchandising and event materials. This position reports to the Creative Director.
Candidate should possess excellent skills in typography and color with some experience in photo art direction (still life and beauty), digital/social media experience a plus. A background in beauty or fashion industries with a luxury aesthetic is essential. Creative savvy and superb conceptual ability with experience in prestige brands and understanding of global fashion and marketing trends. Passion and desire for growth, as well as developing designers for a high performance team.
Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, or equivalent. Emphasis in design/visual communication.
Possess 5+ years experience in beauty or fashion industries, either in-house, agency.
1-2 years supervisory experience required.
Fluent in Apple Macintosh OS with a strong command of Adobe CC Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
Proficiency with and understanding of mechanicals and print production to achieve design objectives.
Excellent communication and organization skills, with ability to communicate design rationale.
Must be self-motivated, but able to work collaboratively within a team/corporate environment.
Ability to work well under tight deadlines at a fast pace. Must be able to accept direction and interpret it effectively.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions from concept through execution, including direction of outside vendors (photographers, illustrators, comp houses, printers).
Meticulous about details and setting of design standards, guidelines and best practices.
